This is a special festival tour and we will
experience the mask dance (Cham) festival of three monasteries in Tibetan Area
Kham in western Sichuan: Huiyuan Monastery, Katok Monastery, Tagong Monastery,
and the Horse Racing Festival in Litang.
The main natural scenery and cultural elements of
Tibetan Area Kham are performed in program.
ARRIVAL IN CHENGDU
Arrive in Chengdu, capital of province Sichuan, the home town of Panda. Pick up and transfer to hotel.

CHENGDU - WOLONG - SIGUNIANGSHAN TOWN
In the morning stroll in the beautiful old block of
Chengdu - Wide Alley and Narrow Alley (Kuan Xiangzi and Zhai Xiangzi),
the relics of the Manchurian garrison since 1718 and consist of 3 parallel
lanes with the old classical houses, which are unique in southern China just
like the northern Chinese architectural style presented by Hutong. After a
careful renovation in June 2008, the pubs, teahouses, restaurants and
guesthouses are concentrated here, and in no time at all, it becomes the
"lobby of leisure capital Chengdu". A walk here gives you a first
impression of the "city of loafers". Then visit the People’s Park in the city center, have a seat in an old teahouse, enjoy your covered-bowl tea

SIGUNIANGSHAN TOWN - DANBA - BAMEI
If the weather is good, you’ll get early to enjoy
the great panoramic view of Mt. Siguniang (Four Sisters Mountain) at
Maobiliang at sunrise. Driving to Bamei via Danba, on the way visit Tibetan
village Jiaju, the most beautiful village of China. In Danba, the local
people are called Jiarong (Gyarong) Tibetans. Walking and visit in the Jiaju
village. More than one hundred buildings keep the same architectural style with
a complete and unique character of Jiarong Tibetan residences. Under the blue
sky, the Tibetan residences decorated in red, white and black are strewed at
random but also in school from the bottom to the middle slope of the valley.

BAMEI
The whole day watch the mask dance in Huiyuan Temple (Gatar Qiangbaling in Tibetan) during Prayer Ceremony in Summer. The Huiyuan Temple was built in 1729, the 7th Year of Yong Zheng Emprior of Qing Dynasty. After the temple was completely built, Emperor Yongzheng named this temple “Huiyuan Si”. And he sent officers to invite the 7th Dalai Lama Kalzang Gyatso who spent 7 years here from 1728 to 1735 to live in this monastery. Later, the 11th Dalai Lama mkhas-grub-rgya-mtsho was born here, which contributed profound influence to Huiyuan Temple in Tibetan area. Then visit Bamei Stone Forest.

BAMEI - DAOFU - LUHUO - GARZE
Today drive to Garze (Ganzi), the real cultural and religious center for the Tibetans living in Sichuan. In Tibetan "Garze" means "white and beauty", named after the famous in 1552 built temple of yellow sect (Gelukpa) in the county. Upon arrival, visit the Han-Chinese Monastery. It is the oldest architecture in Garze built by Han-Chinese in 1274, the Han-Chinese and Tibetan buildings symbolize cultural integration and solidarity of Han-Chinese and Tibetan people. And visit the Garze Monastery of Gelukpa school, it was originally constructed by the Qosot Mongols in 1662 on a hilltop overlooking their castles of Mazur and Khangsar. GARZE - DARGYE MONASTERY - YILHUN LHATSO - DEGE
Today drive to Dege, on the way visit Dargye Monastery. The Dargye represents the Gelukpa school and was founded in 1642. Visit Xinlu Hai Lake (Yilhun Lhatso), located at the foot of Chola Mountain (Que’er Shan). It is 4040 meters above the sea level, with an average depth of 10 meters and a maximum depth of 15 meters. There are plateau spruces, firs, Chinese weeping cypresses, azalea trees and meadows around the lake. It is also a preserve for wild animals like white-lipped deer. Short walking by the lake Yilhun Lhatso. Keep driving through the Chola (Que’er Shan) Tunnel, visit the rock sculpture frescoes in Keluodong village.

DEGE
In the morning visit Dege Gonchen, meaning “temple”, a monastery of Sakya sect. It was built in 1448, today about 300 monks live here. Another program is visit the Dege Printing House which has always been well reputed as the cultural treasury at the foot of the snow mountain. Early in the morning drive via Daofu and Bamei to Tagong, watch the mask dance in Lhagang Monastery (Tagong Si) of Sayka Sect. In the afternoon visit the impressive Gyergo Nunnery and the grand mani wall of Hepingfahui. And from the hillside next to the Muya Golden Pagoda, you can enjoy the panoramic view of the Zhara Lhatse (5.820 m, also Jara or Yala), when the weather is good, the scenery at sunset is especially spectacular.

In the morning visit Changqing chunke'er Monastery (also admits as Litang Si monastery) in the western suburb. The Litang Monastery, developed by the 3.th Dalai Lama in the year 1580, today, becomes the largest monastery of the Gelukpa Sect in south Kham. In late July or early August, the Litang Horse Racing Festival will be held in Litang and lasted about 7 days, which attracts many domestic and foreign visitors. This afternoon, you’ll may have the opportunity to take part in the Litang Horse Racing Festival. Currently the traditional festival has further developed. Besides the traditional horseracing, other activities like horsemanship, singing, dancing, national costume show, etc. have become part of the grand festival. In the morning take part in the Litang Horse Racing Festival. In the afternoon drive to Xinduqiao, the “Paradise of Photographers”, a small town on the road juncture where the northern route of Sichuan-Tibet Highway (Chengdu - Lhasa) and the southern route of Sichuan-Tibet Highway (Chengdu - Lhasa) meet. Payment conditions
To confirm your reservation, you must pay a deposit of 30% of the total amount due via the payment link that your local agent will share. The balance is due 30 days prior to departure. The quoted exchange rate is valid for the next 7 days – if the deposit is not paid within this time, the quote will be re-calculated.
Terms and conditions for cancelation
i. Cancellation of the Tour by CAT (local agent):
CAT reserve the right to cancel the postpone tour at any time up to the date final payment is due under the following condition: in our opinion, health and/or safety factors related to conditions in China would make the tour inadvisable. And in this case, all money paid by the participants will be refunded. If the tour is postponed, CAT will offer all those who have signed up the opportunity to have the same tour for a later time, but the price may be changed according to the season. We will notify you of any change, and give you a reasonable period
of time to make your decision. Consumers may, but are under no obligation to, take the tour under these new terms. After final payment has been made, we may cancel the tour only if, in our opinion, health and/or safety factors related to conditions in China would make the tour inadvisable. Since cancellation in this case involves factors which may arise suddenly and are entirely outside our control, including but not limited to natural disasters, civil unrest and epidemic disease, we cannot guarantee a full refund in this case. This is because payment will already have been made to finalize the arrangements and reservation.
ii. Cancellation of the Tour by Consumer:
Any cancellation must be made by sending an email to the local agent. The cancellation fee varies according to how many days prior to departure the cancellation is made:
· More than 30 days prior to departure: 5% of the total holiday cost
· Between 30 and 22 days prior to departure : 25% of the total holiday cost
· Between 21 and 8 days prior to departure : 50% of the total holiday cost
· Between 7 and 3 days prior to departure : 75% of the total holiday cost
· Less than 3 days prior to departure and after the departure date: 100% of the total holiday cost
All cancellations must be in writing and will be effective upon receipt by CAT. No refund will be made to those participants who break the journey regardless of the portions of the package unused. If, owing to serious illness or injury, the participant withdraws from the tour, a refund will be subject to the consent of the local travel agent.
No refund will be made to those participants who have failed to secure valid travel documents such as passport or visas.
