[Shanghai boasts one of China's best and most distinctive cuisines. Influenced by its position just south of the Yangtze River and at the mouth of the Huangpu River, the region abounds in a selection of freshwater fish and shellfish. Dishes from this area are delicately seasoned. Shanghai's people have a 'sweet tooth', and more sugar is used in Shanghai than in any other part of China. Shanghai's neighbors also contribute to the diversity of the area's cuisine: Hangzhou, known for its West Lake carp; Zhejiang to the west, for its vinegar; and Shaoxing, for its warmed rice wine.]

After a rest, your cuisine adventure begins with a welcome dinner, accompanied by an expert gastronomic guide. Move to the famous Yunnan Road, stopping at a restaurant that is local favorites. Try typical Shanghainese dishes such as scallion oil noodles, parched chicken or soup dumplings with black vinegar. In the late afternoon, you will be taken back to downtown and catch the flight to Chengdu.
[Sichuan cuisine is one of the most popular in China, famous for its brash flavors, mouth-tingling pepper, and sweat-inducing heat. The province is characterized by the iconic numbing (má麻) and spicy (là 辣) characteristics, but Sichuan cuisine should not be judged by the pure power of its spiciness alone. The cooking here is as diverse and exuberant as the complex topography (and population) from which it springs. In fact, chilies did not even make it to China until the 16th century from the New World, and Sichuan cuisine quickly picked it up as a way to balance the effect of the prickly ash, which was already iconic in its cuisine. Today, its capital (Chengdu) buzzes with foodies who delight in everyday eating, and the city houses chefs who are both rooted in tradition and some of the most innovative in China, who are buoyed, not shackled, by its deep-rooted history.]
Your private driver picks you up from Chengdu Airport and transfers you to a favorite restaurant for a hot pot meal. Hot pot is a well-known Sichuan cuisine that features a simmering pot of stock (spicy or non-spicy) placed in the center of your table. A range of ingredients can be selected to throw into the stock to cook. Choose from different meats, vegetables, and seafood to create your dinner in the hot pot. Hot pot dining is also a social experience, as you chat with others while making your soup. When you have finished your meal, make your own way to your next destination.

CHENGDU / GUANGZHOU FISH MARKET / LOCAL STREET FOODIE TOUR
This morning, you will be transferred to airport to take flight and fly to Guangzhou.
[The great joke about Guangdong, or Cantonese, cuisine is that the Cantonese will “eat anything that has four legs other than a table, anything that flies other than an airplane, and anything that swims other than a submarine.” However, don’t let this deter you. Cantonese cuisine is lauded for its focus on bringing out pure flavors, the result being bright, crisp vegetables, steamed fish, and elaborate, lightly sautéed dishes. Cantonese cuisine is also well regarded for its roasted meats, like lacquered barbecue pork, burnished golden pigeons, and crisp, flavorsome goose. Perhaps most famous of all is the dim sum that hails from the region: elaborate and delicate steamed dumplings, custard buns, radish cakes, and more eaten in the mornings with tea.]

They usually ignore its crowded surroundings just for the delicious food. After a lunch, you can have a walk along this street to digest. There is a very small but popular Cantonese dessert shop you need to try
Then, move to and stroll around the Duabao Road known for its changfen (rice flour rolls). Next, make your way along Enning Road where you can meet brass-making craftsmen who still practice the same techniques of their ancestors. Take a break at Guangzhou’s most popular dessert spot, and snag a double-steamed milk and ginger milk pudding before heading to Hualin Buddhist Temple. Afterward, get back to tasting food with a sample of noodles and soups by Changshou Road. Then, try coconut, mango, and durian ice cream, fish skin, and steamed Tingzai porridge. Your tour ends at the Liwan Museum where you can explore on your own or go in a different direction.
