The Sisters’ Meal Festival is one of the Miao people's most active festivals. It is held on the 15th day of the third lunar month by the “Silver Miao”(about Mid April of each year), in Shidong, Taijiang County, Guizhou Province. The four-day Sisters’ Meal Festival, dubbed as the ethnic Miao's folk Valentine's Day, is the Miao people's busiest time of the year and a great opportunity for Miao youth living in the neighborhood to choose their dates.
During the festival, Miao people dress up, sing and dance, watch bullfights, compete in a canoeing contest...The highlights are to see the Drum Dancing and Beauty Parading of 1000 girls dressing in their traditional costume.
The legend of Sisters’ Meal Festival：
Once upon a time, there were seven beautiful Miao sisters who wanted to marry good men. And their parents invited young men from the village and neighboring communities for dinner, and sang folk songs during the daytime and danced at night. The three days and nights gathering allowed the girls to test and observe the men. And the sisters turned out to be the first of the Miao people to marry for love. And that is the origin of the Sisters’ Meal Festival.
Passed down from generation to generation, Sister Festival in Guizhou today is a big day for Miao People and also a strong appeal to tourists for the fascinating folk art.

ARRIVE IN GUIYANG
You will be met and welcomed by the guide in Guiyang Airport（Early Flight）. Guizhou is nicknamed 'The Kingdom of Mountains', as 97% of its land is comprised of mountains and plateaus. The afternoon's program highlight the remaining culture of the old Han (Chinese) ethnic group.
The ancestors of these villagers migrated from Jiangxi Province to Guizhou Province in the Ming Dynasty. We will visit Bao Old Han Village. Women here are still dressed in traditional Ming dynasty costumes, and houses remain faithful to the Ming architectural styles. In the village we would also watch the Ground Opera which is called a fossil of opera because it has been played for over 6 centuries. After that we visit local family and appreciate the opera mask making.

GUIYANG - KAILI
Morning, we drive 2.5 hours along the scenic mountain roads to Kaili and visit Kaili Ethnic Minorities’ Museum to learn the great histories of Miao people and Dong people, where you could also have a whole view of different costumes of different ethnic minorities in Guizhou. After lunch, we drive along the Bala River to Jiaogao Miao Village from where we hike 2 or 3 hours to Wugao Miao village which belongs to Long-skirt Miao.

PINGMIN - KAILI
This morning we drive 1 hour to Chonganjiang and hike 1hour to Wangba, a quiet village inhabited by the Gejia minority, where the hospitable Gejia people will welcome us with their blocking-way wine and songs. we will learn about their culture, of which very little is known. The Gejia although classified as Miao are in fact a separate group. Their founder is General Da Sa, probably of Manchu descent. After lunch we drive to Laotun Miao Village for learning the preparation for the Sisters’ Meal Festival including fish catching, Sister’s Meal making, silver ornaments polishing etc. In the late afternoon, we will drive to visit a Miao embroidery master, she will show us her wonderful collection of different minorities’ old costumes.

KAILI - SHIDONG - KAILI
This morning we will drive to Shidong Town to experience the Sisters’ Meal Festival. We’ll see farmers busily working in their rice paddies, planting and using cows for plowing fields. Our first stop is the Tanglong Miao Village where we’ll visit local embroidery master and silversmith for learning about Miao’s unique costumes and silver making. After lunch, we will walk to the nearby village and watch the Miao girls dressing up for the afternoon spectacular Sisters’ Meal Festival. We’ll spend the rest of the afternoon enjoying the music and dancing by locals dressed in their best traditional costumes and stunning silver accessories. At the end of the day we’ll drive back to Kaili.

KAILI - GUIYANG
Drive 1 hour to visit Shiqiao Village, where we will have a chance to see how local people make paper from mulberry tree in a traditional way. On the way back to Kaili, we stop on the way to visit Qingman Miao Village in which people are called Japanese Miao because both have got a similar language even the same style of costume. They are also famous for their folded-silk felted costumes. Afternoon, drive to the Guiyang airport and take a flight to back home, or drive 1hour to railway station for your fast train to Guiling.

1. Before you pay deposit to book the tour, we haven’t made any reservation yet. The train, flight tickets and the hotel may different from the itinerary listed.
2. The visiting order of the scenic spots in the itinerary may change according to the traffic condition and other unforeseen things.
3. Tourist insurance is a must before going, please provide us the confirmation of insurance company when sign up.
The price includes
1. Entrance Fees: to scenic spots as listed in the itinerary
2. All the activities fee mentioned in the itinerary: Hutong rickshaw in Beijing; Sichuan Opera show in Chengdu;
3. Private Transfers: Transfers between airports, hotels and scenic spots while sightseeing during the trip by private air conditioned vehicle with a driver.
4. Meals: All meals as indicated in the itinerary (B-breakfast, L-lunch, D-dinner), include Peking duck dinner in Beijing; Hot pot dinner in Chengdu.
5. Guide: As outlined in the itinerary an English-speaking guide and driver will be provided in each city, who will remain with you throughout your time in that city. A new guide and a new driver will meet you at each city on your tour, to provide you with the best local knowledge available

Payment conditions
To confirm your reservation, you must pay a deposit of 30% of the total amount due via the payment link that your local agent will share. The balance is due 30 days prior to departure. The quoted exchange rate is valid for the next 7 days – if the deposit is not paid within this time, the quote will be re-calculated.
Terms and conditions for cancelation
i. Cancellation of the Tour by CAT (local agent):
CAT reserve the right to cancel the postpone tour at any time up to the date final payment is due under the following condition: in our opinion, health and/or safety factors related to conditions in China would make the tour inadvisable. And in this case, all money paid by the participants will be refunded. If the tour is postponed, CAT will offer all those who have signed up the opportunity to have the same tour for a later time, but the price may be changed according to the season. We will notify you of any change, and give you a reasonable period
of time to make your decision. Consumers may, but are under no obligation to, take the tour under these new terms. After final payment has been made, we may cancel the tour only if, in our opinion, health and/or safety factors related to conditions in China would make the tour inadvisable. Since cancellation in this case involves factors which may arise suddenly and are entirely outside our control, including but not limited to natural disasters, civil unrest and epidemic disease, we cannot guarantee a full refund in this case. This is because payment will already have been made to finalize the arrangements and reservation.
ii. Cancellation of the Tour by Consumer:
Any cancellation must be made by sending an email to the local agent. The cancellation fee varies according to how many days prior to departure the cancellation is made:
· More than 30 days prior to departure: 5% of the total holiday cost
· Between 30 and 22 days prior to departure : 25% of the total holiday cost
· Between 21 and 8 days prior to departure : 50% of the total holiday cost
· Between 7 and 3 days prior to departure : 75% of the total holiday cost
· Less than 3 days prior to departure and after the departure date: 100% of the total holiday cost
All cancellations must be in writing and will be effective upon receipt by CAT. No refund will be made to those participants who break the journey regardless of the portions of the package unused. If, owing to serious illness or injury, the participant withdraws from the tour, a refund will be subject to the consent of the local travel agent.
No refund will be made to those participants who have failed to secure valid travel documents such as passport or visas.
