Map & Itinerary

Lijiang has a history of at least 800 years and may date as far back as the Song Dynasty. As a popular destination in Yunnan, Lijiang is considered as a fairyland blessed with fresh air, clear streams, breathtaking snow mountains and an undisturbed landscape inhabited by Naxi ethnic minority. Lugu Lake is the native place of “The Females’ Kingdom” composed of the Mosuo people, a branch of the Naxi nationality. This tour will offers not only the charming landscape of Lijiang, but also the Gemu Mountain Goddess Festival. Travelers can know more about Mosuo people.

Holiday Itinerary

  • ARRIVE IN LIJIANG

    Today, the local tour guide and driver will meet you at Lijiang airport and then send you to hotel.

    This morning, you will drive to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, take the sightseeing bus for a short visit through the Baishuihe River. Take cable car to visit Blue Moon Valley. Afterwards, take the chairlift up to Spruce Meadow of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. You will hike around 1 hour in the original forest in Spruce Meadow(3200 meters).

    In the afternoon, watch a show named “Impression Lijiang Show” directed in Ganhaizi Meadow(3100M). A cultural show demonstrating the traditions and lifestyles of the Naxi, Yi and Bai peoples of the area. The show takes place inside Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Park at 3500m in an outdoor theater specifically designed to showcase the mountain which is used as a backdrop. The production itself was designed by Zhang Yimou, Fan Yue and Wang Chaoge, a cast of over 500 people, and a number of horses.

    At last, visit Yuhu Village. When walking into this authentic Naxi Village, you’ll see unique stone houses,Naxi ladies dressing in traditional clothes, kids playing, a tranquil Yuhu Lake…Explore leisurely around the village and then get to the Former Residence of Joseph Rock, who was an Austrian-American Botanist came to Lijiang and stayed in Yuhu Village for 27 years and made huge research work on Naxi minority.

  • LIJIANG CYCLING TOUR

    Today, drive to Lashihai. Then start your cyclling from Zhiyunsi by cycling around Lashihai. Lashihai Lake, a nature reserve rich in biodiversity. Then surround the Lashihai Lake for further cycling. The endangered black necked crane can be seen here. The Naxi and Yi minorities live in this area. You will loop around the lake beginning on paved road which leads us through Naxi villages.

    At noon, cycle to Shuhe Old Town and visit this town. Then go on your cycling tour to Baisha Old Town through Shuhe Old Town. Visit Baisha Murals. Drive back to hotel

  • LIJIANG - LUGU LAKE

    In the morning, drive 4 hours to Lugu Lake. In the late afternoon, you will take the canoes to visit Liwubi Island in Lugu Lake and walk around Lugu Lake to enjoy the scenery. In the evening, take part in Mosuo Bonfire Party with ethnic dance and singing performance.You will dance and sing with Mosuo boys and girls around a big bonfire.

    Today, you will enjoy and witness the celebration of Gemu Mountain Goddess Festival main venue. Gemu Mountain Goddess Festival is celebrated on the 25th day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar, to worship Gemu Mountain. On that day, everywhere on the mountain you can find the Moso, finely dressed for the festival, carrying food to celebrate with a banquet. You can visit Goddess Temple with local people, they say prayers for the all people they love in a temple. They perform the ancient prostration ceremony toward the Goddess. They hung colorful prayer flags and the portrait of the Goddess and present offerings. They circle of the mountain.

  • LUGU LAKE (25TH DAY OF THE SEVENTH MONTH OF THE LUNAR CALENDAR)

    Today, we will transfer to other venue to see other people the celebrate the festival.  Local food shows, photo exhibition, Mosuo People’s Dancing, Get the Holy Water, etc.

    In the afternoon, pay a visit to a local Mosuo family to see what their life is. Drive back to hotel.

  • LUGU LAKE - LIJIANG

    Drive drive back to Lijiang. On the way to Ninglang Town, you will stop to visit a Pumi Ethnic Village and Pumi Family. The ancestors of Pumi were a nomadic tribe living in the southern part of Gansu Province and the eastern part of Qinghai Province. Later, their descendants moved south to warmer areas along the Hengduan Mountain Range. After the 13th century, the Pumi ethnic group gradually settled down in Ninglang, Lijiang, Weixi and Lanping counties.

    In the late afternoon, you will arrive in Lijiang and take a leisure walk up the Lion Hill and climb up the 33-meter-tall Wanggu Tower – the landmark building of Lijiang to enjoy a panoramic view of the whole old town and countryside scenery, as well as overlook the magnificent Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the distance. Then enjoy your time in Lijiang Old Town.

  • LIJIANG - QIAOTOU - TEA & HORSE GUEST HOUSE

    In the morning, our guide pick up from your hotel in Ljiang. Drive to Qiaotou Town, which takes 2 hours on the trip. Tiger Leaping Gorge hiking tour is one of the most beautiful trekking tour of Yunnan Province. Your hiking trip starts from Qiaotou. About two hours trekking in the Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge, you will arrive at Naxi Family and have lunch there. It is easy trekking from Qiaotou to Naxi Family, but beautiful scenery.

    After lunch, a trekking from Naxi Family to 28 zigzagging turns will be a challenge for you. From the top of “28 turns” on the high path further uphill to a place of altitude above 3000m, you can have a view of the panorama of the entire Gorge. Then arrive at Tea Horse Guest House.

  • TEA&HORSE GUESTHOUSE - SHANGRI-LA

    Morning, continue to another 2hrs trekking from Tea Horse Guesthouse to arrive at Halfway Guesthouse (2500m). After a rest, further 1.5hrs trekking to Tina’s Guesthouse. Finish 3.5-4 hrs trekking and have lunch. After lunch, drive to Shangri-La.

    In the monring, visit the Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, the largest Tibetan Monastery in Yunnan. Songzanlin Monastery has another alias – ‘the little Potala Palace ‘, so named because the whole monastery is in the traditional style with mysterious atmosphere.

    At noon, pay a visit to a Tibetan Village and have cooking class in a family. You will learn how to cook Tibetan dishes and enjoy what you cooked.

    In the afternoon, have a leisure walk around Napahai Lake and enjoy the beautiful plateau scenery.

1. Before you pay deposit to book the tour, we haven’t made any reservation yet. The train, flight tickets and the hotel may different from the itinerary listed.

2. The visiting order of the scenic spots in the itinerary may change according to the traffic condition and other unforeseen things.

3. Tourist insurance is a must before going, please provide us the confirmation of insurance company when sign up.


The price includes

1. Entrance Fees: to scenic spots as listed in the itinerary

2. All the activities fee mentioned in the itinerary: Hutong rickshaw in Beijing; Sichuan Opera show in Chengdu;

3. Private Transfers: Transfers between airports, hotels and scenic spots while sightseeing during the trip by private air conditioned vehicle with a driver.

4. Meals: All meals as indicated in the itinerary (B-breakfast, L-lunch, D-dinner), include Peking duck dinner in Beijing; Hot pot dinner in Chengdu.

5. Guide: As outlined in the itinerary an English-speaking guide and driver will be provided in each city, who will remain with you throughout your time in that city. A new guide and a new driver will meet you at each city on your tour, to provide you with the best local knowledge available

6. Hotel: hotel fees are based on two people sharing one room with king-size bed. All hotels as listed in the above itinerary serve daily western or Chinese breakfast

** Day 04/   High speed train from Beijing to Xi’an (based on 2nd class);

8. Please notice that the price will be much higher during the festival of Labors’ Day, National Day, spring festival

9. Tips to tour guide and driver (recommended USD10-15/guest/day).

10. Tourist accident insurance. NB - you are strongly suggested to buy travel and health insurance before you start out from your home country.


Payment conditions

To confirm your reservation, you must pay a deposit of 30% of the total amount due via the payment link that your local agent will share. The balance is due 30 days prior to departure. The quoted exchange rate is valid for the next 7 days – if the deposit is not paid within this time, the quote will be re-calculated.


Terms and conditions for cancelation

i. Cancellation of the Tour by CAT (local agent):

CAT reserve the right to cancel the postpone tour at any time up to the date final payment is due under the following condition: in our opinion, health and/or safety factors related to conditions in China would make the tour inadvisable. And in this case, all money paid by the participants will be refunded. If the tour is postponed, CAT will offer all those who have signed up the opportunity to have the same tour for a later time, but the price may be changed according to the season. We will notify you of any change, and give you a reasonable period

of time to make your decision. Consumers may, but are under no obligation to, take the tour under these new terms. After final payment has been made, we may cancel the tour only if, in our opinion, health and/or safety factors related to conditions in China would make the tour inadvisable. Since cancellation in this case involves factors which may arise suddenly and are entirely outside our control, including but not limited to natural disasters, civil unrest and epidemic disease, we cannot guarantee a full refund in this case. This is because payment will already have been made to finalize the arrangements and reservation.

ii. Cancellation of the Tour by Consumer:

Any cancellation must be made by sending an email to the local agent. The cancellation fee varies according to how many days prior to departure the cancellation is made:

   ·  More than 30 days prior to departure: 5% of the total holiday cost

   ·  Between 30 and 22 days prior to departure : 25% of the total holiday cost

   ·  Between 21 and 8 days prior to departure : 50% of the total holiday cost

   ·  Between 7 and 3 days prior to departure : 75% of the total holiday cost

   ·  Less than 3 days prior to departure and after the departure date: 100% of the total holiday cost

All cancellations must be in writing and will be effective upon receipt by CAT. No refund will be made to those participants who break the journey regardless of the portions of the package unused. If, owing to serious illness or injury, the participant withdraws from the tour, a refund will be subject to the consent of the local travel agent.

No refund will be made to those participants who have failed to secure valid travel documents such as passport or visas.
