The perfect
introduction to this ancient trade route takes us through one of the most
important oases of China's great western expanse. Enter from Torugart pass, you
firstly arrive at Kashgar. In history, Kashgar is the most important city for
import and export trade, hence the most prosperous city in west of China. Now
it is famous for the “Sunday Market”—the largest bazaar in Central Asia is held
every Sunday. Another highlight of here is the visit to the Lake Karakul at the
base of Mt. Muztag Ata (

TRANSFER TO TASHKURGAN VIA KARAKORUM
After breakfast, we will drive on the China and Pakistan highway to visit the Karakul Lake and enjoy the Pamir landscape. Karakul Lake is situated at the altitude of 3,600 m. It is the highest lake of the Pamir plateau, near the junction of the Pamir, Tianshan and Kunlun Mountain ranges. Surrounded by mountains which remain snow-covered throughout the year, the three highest peaks visible from the lake are the Muztag Ata (7 546m), Kongur Tagh (7 649m) and Kongur Tiube (7 530 m). The lake is popular among travelers for its beautiful scenery and the clarity of its reflection in the water, whose color ranges from a dark green to azure and light blue. You will have to walk along the lake, and you will enjoy a short time riding a camel at Karakul Lake, it will be a very unusual experience for you, then we will drive to Tashkorgan. This is an interesting frontier town that is famed for its old fortress. We will have time to walk around. Dinner at hotel restaurant.

FULL DAY AT TASHKURGAN AND SURROUNDINGS
Today, we will get up early to the Stone City to see the sunrise. The Stone City is located in the north of Tashkurgan town and dates to the Tang dynasty. Several coins and documents from Hotan have been unearthed here. The city is surrounded by beautiful green pasturelands and streams with a beautiful view of the surrounding snow capped mountains. Only some broken sections of the city’s walls remain but it was once an important fort on the ancient Silk Road guarding the roads from Kashi, Yengisar and Yarkant leading to the mountain passes towards Central Asia and India.
Then you will leave for the Khunjerab Pass and travel 130Km from Tashkorgan into the peaks atop the nearby Karakorum Mountain Range. It takes 1.5 hours to summit the pass and it’s an experience that shouldn’t be missed. Entering into an amphitheatre of fluted peaks atop the highest international border in the world, you’re in a place few people on Earth can ever claim to have been. Khunjerab means ‘Valley of Blood’ in Uighur. Many Caravans once died summiting this pass on the old Silk Road and the area was famous for brigands and bandits. On top, you’ll also have opportunity to take your photo with the friendly Pakistani guards at the border. Back to the hotel. Dinner at Chinese restaurant.

TASHKURGAN - KASHGAR
Drive back to the Kashgar. After lunch, visit Apak Hoja Tomb. Apak Hoja Tomb is Mazar. It is the holiest place in Xinjiang and an architectural treasure. Built in 1640 it is reminiscent of the Central Asian artistic style of Samarkand or Isfahan. A handsome blue-and-white tiled gate leads into the compound, which includes a small religious school and the Abakh Khoja family tomb. The latter is domed and faced with multi - colored tiles. It is said that it is the most complete Islamic tomb of the Qing Dynasty up-to-now in the whole China!!!
If time permits, we will drive to Old Town Kashgar. Old Town Kashgar is famous for the winding narrow streets of its historic old town. Old town demo strates a fascinating architectural style of mud built houses with supporting wooden beams and beautifully carved wooden ceilings. Located in the heart of the city with more than half the cities population living here. The inhabitants of old town are 100% Uyghur’s. Uyghur people have been living in this area since the city of kashgar was formed more than two thousand years ago. Instead of doing research on the net or reading a book about Uyghur culture you can take a walk through Old Town. Dinner at Muslim restaurants.

SUNDAY MARKET
After Breakfast, we could have a free time in Kashgar Old Town, then transfer to the Sunday Market. Kashgar’s Sunday Market is the biggest market in Xinjiang. With the history of more than one thousand years, it used to be prosperous market on the ancient Silk Road and still plays an important role in local people’s life today. Nowadays, it has become even busier. Various special local products, handicrafts, articles of daily use, fruits and vegetables as well as all kinds of domestic animals can be found here. Dinner at Muslim restaurants.

Additional details
1. Before you pay deposit to book the tour, we haven’t made any reservation yet. The train, flight tickets and the hotel may different from the itinerary listed.
2. The visiting order of the scenic spots in the itinerary may change according to the traffic condition and other unforeseen things.
3. Tourist insurance is a must before going, please provide us the confirmation of insurance company when sign up.
The price includes
1. Entrance Fees: to scenic spots as listed in the itinerary
2. All the activities fee mentioned in the itinerary: Hutong rickshaw in Beijing; Sichuan Opera show in Chengdu;
3. Private Transfers: Transfers between airports, hotels and scenic spots while sightseeing during the trip by private air conditioned vehicle with a driver.
4. Meals: All meals as indicated in the itinerary (B-breakfast, L-lunch, D-dinner), include Peking duck dinner in Beijing; Hot pot dinner in Chengdu.
5. Guide: As outlined in the itinerary an English-speaking guide and driver will be provided in each city, who will remain with you throughout your time in that city. A new guide and a new driver will meet you at each city on your tour, to provide you with the best local knowledge available

Payment conditions
To confirm your reservation, you must pay a deposit of 30% of the total amount due via the payment link that your local agent will share. The balance is due 30 days prior to departure. The quoted exchange rate is valid for the next 7 days – if the deposit is not paid within this time, the quote will be re-calculated.
Terms and conditions for cancelation
i. Cancellation of the Tour by CAT (local agent):
CAT reserve the right to cancel the postpone tour at any time up to the date final payment is due under the following condition: in our opinion, health and/or safety factors related to conditions in China would make the tour inadvisable. And in this case, all money paid by the participants will be refunded. If the tour is postponed, CAT will offer all those who have signed up the opportunity to have the same tour for a later time, but the price may be changed according to the season. We will notify you of any change, and give you a reasonable period
of time to make your decision. Consumers may, but are under no obligation to, take the tour under these new terms. After final payment has been made, we may cancel the tour only if, in our opinion, health and/or safety factors related to conditions in China would make the tour inadvisable. Since cancellation in this case involves factors which may arise suddenly and are entirely outside our control, including but not limited to natural disasters, civil unrest and epidemic disease, we cannot guarantee a full refund in this case. This is because payment will already have been made to finalize the arrangements and reservation.
ii. Cancellation of the Tour by Consumer:
Any cancellation must be made by sending an email to the local agent. The cancellation fee varies according to how many days prior to departure the cancellation is made:
· More than 30 days prior to departure: 5% of the total holiday cost
· Between 30 and 22 days prior to departure : 25% of the total holiday cost
· Between 21 and 8 days prior to departure : 50% of the total holiday cost
· Between 7 and 3 days prior to departure : 75% of the total holiday cost
· Less than 3 days prior to departure and after the departure date: 100% of the total holiday cost
All cancellations must be in writing and will be effective upon receipt by CAT. No refund will be made to those participants who break the journey regardless of the portions of the package unused. If, owing to serious illness or injury, the participant withdraws from the tour, a refund will be subject to the consent of the local travel agent.
No refund will be made to those participants who have failed to secure valid travel documents such as passport or visas.
