This Cultural Expedition program is designed to give the family an opportunity to experience a different and interesting Chinese Culture and Outdoor Landscape in Shanghai and Huangshan. Our first station is Shanghai, the Shanghai section not only includes most of important sites such as Shanghai Museum, Yuanyuan Garden, but also you will have a time to visit the famous water town – Wuzhen. During the trip, we will also have a chance to visit the garden city –Suzhou.
Then take a high-speed train to Huangshan (Tunxi city). Hike on Mt. Huangs han, China’s most picturesque and famed mountain. It has served as the inspiration for artists, poets, dreamers, and romantics for thousands of years. See the intriguing pine formations and the seas and mists of clouds, while enjoying the sunrise and sunset from the mountain top. Tour the ancient villages of Nanping, Tangmo and Chengkan Ancient Villages oozing with folk culture and the history in the Anhui region and these ancient villages are relatively untouched by the modern world. All of these will make you a wonderful experience of real China!

ARRIVE IN SHANGHAI
Our local guide in Shanghai will pick you up at exit of the airport, transfer to the hotel, check in and have a rest. After lunch, drive to visit Yu Garden, Nanjing Toad, The Oriental Pearl TV Tower and the bund.
Yu Garden is one of the most famous gardens in China and is national heritage listed. It was built in 1559 and extended in 1577. Each section of the garden is separated by curved white walls crowned with the head and body of a dragon on them. It's named after the original owner.
The Bund: Also called the Zhongshan Road, is a Famous waterfront and regarded as the symbol of Shanghai for hundreds of years.It was the centre of Shanghai’s politics, economy and culture hundreds of years ago, consulates of most countries and many banks, bus inesses and newspaper offices were settled there.
The Oriental Pearl TV Tower is unquestionably an icon of Pudong’s renaissance. Looming through the mist, like a reproduction of a classical Chinese ink painting of landscape, stands Shanghai’s Oriental Pearl TV Tower. Its soaring height of 468 meters boldly characterizes the Lujiazui cityscape.

SHANGHAI - SUZHOU - SHANGHAI
Take 1.5hrs drive from Shanghai the famous garden city - Suzhou. You’ll first visit Lingering Garden, one of the four most famous classic gardens in China. The sophisticated layout of the garden will surely offer you scene of beauty and refreshment at every turn. The three rockeries at the rear part of the garden is worthwhile your special attention.
After lunch, go to Panmen Gate. The grand gate is part of the ancient city wall (built in 514 B.C.) and received restoration in 1351 (during Yuan Dynasty). Then transfer to visit Suzhou Silk Factory to see how the silk is processed from silk worm to the final product, and the interesting silk history in China. In the late afternoon, drive back to Shanghai.

SHANGHAI - WUZHEN - SHANGHAI
Morning your guide and driver pick up you from Shanghai and begin to drive for Wuzhen, which is today’s visit. Then you will visit a wine making plant, & a local printing workshop. Have a Chinese lunch and continue to visit an exhibition of antique beds from the Ming & Qing Dynasties. After that, pay a visit to a local folk culture museum. Then you will make a cruise in Chinese gondolas. After that, transfer back to Shanghai.

SHANGHAI - HUANGSHAN
After breakfast, check out the hotel, our local guide will pick you up at your hotel lobby. Today we will first go to visit Shanghai Museum, it used to be near the Bund. It is now situated in People's Square and its new buildings were built in 1996, designed by a Shanghai architect named Xing Tonghe. The new design symbolizes China's ancient understanding of the world: round sky and square earth. The museum has a circular roof and rectangular base. It stores 120,000 precious artifacts, which narrate a story of China's 5,000-year civilization.
Escape from the hustle and bustle of the most developed city in China and relax yourself in the peaceful Jade Buddha Temple. Lots of people who live in the busy city of Shanghai come to the temple to relieve the troubled part of their personalities. Proceed to visit Tianzifang street---an artsy area that has developed from a renovated residential area (old Shanghai Shikumen buildings) in the former French Concession area of Shanghai, in the late afternoon, drive to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, take a high-speed train to Huangshan (G1519 18:07-22:13).
You’ll be met by your local guide in Huangshan at the exit of the railway station. From your pick-up you'll be taken to your hotel. You can spend your first night in Huangshan at your own leisure.

YELLOW MOUNTAIN
After Breakfast, drive for one hour and 20minutes to Yellow Mountain. Located in the southern part of Anhui Province, the Yellow Mountain is undoubtedly China's most celebrated mountain for all its grandeur and beauty, which was declared a World Natural and Cultural Heritage in 1990 by UNESCO Heritage Committee. The round trip cable car is included. During the 10 minutes cable car journey, you will enjoy the magnificent scenery. The guide will accompany you to visit the highlights of the Yellow Mountain, such as North Sea and West Sea area, where you can appreciate the breathtaking scenery and photograph the seas of clouds, peculiar-shaped rocks, verdant Pine trees, and rolling mountains, and then, take the cable car to go down the mountain. And then drive back to Tunxi.

NANPING VILLAGE - HONGCUN - TANGMO
Today, we
will check out the hotel, then transfer to visit Nanping village which is located
in the southwest of Yi county, it is a large ancient folk village with a
history of about one thousand years. Here we will also have to chance to experience
local folk customs
Move to
Hongcun. Hong Village enjoys the reputation of 'a village in the beautiful
Chinese picture' because of its location at high altitude and being shrouded by
clouds and mist. Tranquil alleyways, water originating from a picturesque
garden, the whole reflects the pursuit of the harmony of man and nature.
In the late
afternoon, make a 1-hour drive to the Tangmo Ancient Village, Huizhou Disitrict. It was rated as one of the top
ten 'must see' famous scenic spots in Huangshan City, with Huizhou dwellings
culture which can be dated back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907). Upon your
arrival, you will be captivated by the quiet rural life style of this
particular culture, and the natural beauty that is incorporated within this
famous historic and cultural village.

TANGMO - CHENGKAN - HUANGSHAN CITY
This morning, we first go to do a walking tour in Tangmo, then take a short drive to Chengkan Village, watch local farmers live their daily lives in a traditional way and learn about their routine in the process. Chengkan was first built in the early days of the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280). It is said that the layout of the village caters to one of the Eight Trigrams-Kan in Yi Jing (the Book of Changes) hence the name Chengkan. When we arrive, we will be amazed by a maze owing to the anfractuosities of the streets and lanes interlaced in the village. There are more than 130 ancient edifices in Ming and Qing styles among which Baolun Hall is especially valuable, renowned for its well-preserved ancient architectures and colorful paintings with a history of over 500 years.
In the afternoon, drive to Huangshan City, visit Tunxi Ancient Street, which can be dated back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279), with centuries-old history. It is paved with maroon flagstones built by different age with a total length of 1,273 meters, of which 895 meters is the pedestrian commercial street. Shops standing on both sides are generally of two or three floors, which feature the local Anhui style of stone base, brick construction and tile roof. Today, we will have a chance to go to a Huizhou ink workshop to learn how to make calligraphy brushes. You will have a wonderful night in Tunxi Ancient Street.

The price includes

5. Guide: As outlined in the itinerary an English-speaking guide and driver will be provided in each city, who will remain with you throughout your time in that city. A new guide and a new driver will meet you at each city on your tour, to provide you with the best local knowledge available

10. Tourist accident insurance. NB - you are strongly suggested to buy travel and health insurance before you start out from your home country.
Payment conditions
To confirm your reservation, you must pay a deposit of 30% of the total amount due via the payment link that your local agent will share. The balance is due 30 days prior to departure. The quoted exchange rate is valid for the next 7 days – if the deposit is not paid within this time, the quote will be re-calculated.
Terms and conditions for cancelation
i. Cancellation of the Tour by CAT (local agent):
CAT reserve the right to cancel the postpone tour at any time up to the date final payment is due under the following condition: in our opinion, health and/or safety factors related to conditions in China would make the tour inadvisable. And in this case, all money paid by the participants will be refunded. If the tour is postponed, CAT will offer all those who have signed up the opportunity to have the same tour for a later time, but the price may be changed according to the season. We will notify you of any change, and give you a reasonable period
of time to make your decision. Consumers may, but are under no obligation to, take the tour under these new terms. After final payment has been made, we may cancel the tour only if, in our opinion, health and/or safety factors related to conditions in China would make the tour inadvisable. Since cancellation in this case involves factors which may arise suddenly and are entirely outside our control, including but not limited to natural disasters, civil unrest and epidemic disease, we cannot guarantee a full refund in this case. This is because payment will already have been made to finalize the arrangements and reservation.
ii. Cancellation of the Tour by Consumer:
Any cancellation must be made by sending an email to the local agent. The cancellation fee varies according to how many days prior to departure the cancellation is made:
· More than 30 days prior to departure: 5% of the total holiday cost
· Between 30 and 22 days prior to departure : 25% of the total holiday cost
· Between 21 and 8 days prior to departure : 50% of the total holiday cost
· Between 7 and 3 days prior to departure : 75% of the total holiday cost
· Less than 3 days prior to departure and after the departure date: 100% of the total holiday cost
All cancellations must be in writing and will be effective upon receipt by CAT. No refund will be made to those participants who break the journey regardless of the portions of the package unused. If, owing to serious illness or injury, the participant withdraws from the tour, a refund will be subject to the consent of the local travel agent.
No refund will be made to those participants who have failed to secure valid travel documents such as passport or visas.
