Home > Great Wall Hiking > 2 Days Great Wall Hiking around Jinshanling with Camping
This is our most-popular 2-day excursion! Day 1 is fairly-easy hiking, getting our "hiking legs" limbered up. We will follow the Great Wall through the countryside, where we will have the chance to see villagers going about their day-to-day tasks. Day 2 will be easier – we will get up early to watch the sunrise on the Great Wall. In short, the second day will offer some fantastic views, great for pictures, and not seen from the commonly-visited tourist locations!

DAY 2 Gubeikou - Jinshanling (L; 10 km, 5 hrs)
We will be up before sunrise to catch the sun throwing soft morning light onto the Wall itself, great for pictures! Since our campsite is at the bottom of the Great Wall, we need to hike 20-30mins from the bottom to the watch tower of the Great Wall. Simple breakfast will be followed, then we will continue to hike from our camping site eastward to Jinshanling section of Great Wall. The panoramic view is wonderful – partway along the hike, if the weather is clear, we will be able to see all the way to the Miyun reservoir and the Wangjing Tower in the Simatai Section. Along the way, we pass a military area where hiking on that area of the Wall is prohibited, you we will bypass this area by walking first to an interesting village nearby, and then rejoining the Wall in the Jinshanling section further on. At the end of the hike, back to Beijing South Railway station to take train back to Shanghai.
